In 2019, Dr. Jorge O. Cordova answered a call that would become deeply personal. Invited by Dr.Herminio Perez, he joined a team of alumni and third-year students from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine on a mission to provide much-needed dental care to the children of La Romana, Dominican Republic. Founded by the World of Smiles organization, the mission is rooted in compassion and the belief that every child deserves access to quality oral health care.
Since that first trip, Dr. Cordova has continued to step away from his private practice to serve the underserved children of La Romana. Beyond delivering care, he mentors future dentists, guiding students as they provide gentle, minimally invasive, and preventive treatment. With strong ties to the Caribbean, this mission holds special meaning for Dr. Cordova—transforming service into a heartfelt commitment to communities that feel like home.
